New Zealand’s latest luxury opening, Okoro Villa in Nelson is thrilled to appoint Executive Chef Michael McMeeken, a humble chef with a notable career.
Born and bred in New Zealand’s southernmost province; Southland, Michael honed his culinary skills in some of the world’s most highly regarded restaurants and he has worked under some of the world’s leading culinary authorities.
These include chefs, Thomas Keller of Per Se, Daniel Boulud in Café Boulud, Palm Beach and at the famed Berkeley Hotel in London under Marcus Wareing and Gordon Ramsay.
Okoro Villa, positioned as one of New Zealand’s most premium luxury visitor accommodation experiences is a secluded full-service residence with unparalleled views over Tasman Bay. The Villa welcomes 2-8 guests on an individual or exclusive basis with breakfast and dinner daily included.
The private estate of virgin native and regenerating bush has an established orchard and expansive kitchen garden that Michael is curating. Guests will experience bespoke, daily changing menus that showcase the very best of fresh, seasonal produce accompanied by premium game and sustainably caught seafood supporting local growers and fishermen.
